Solution#: 2 MANY TO MANY RELATIONSHIP MISSING AFTER SAVE AS 3.5.2

A many to many relationship created in ERwin 4.0 and subsequently saved
as a 3.5.2 model will lose the relationship on the physical side of the
ERwin 3.5.2 model.

In order to preserve the relationship when saving as ERwin 3.5.2, the
relationship needs to be transformed prior to saving. This can be
performed by manually transforming the relationship or by an option in
the Model Properties dialog. The option for Model Properties is on the
General tab, select the Many to Many Relationships with Association
Table checkbox under Auto Transform Logical Objects.

Solution#: 3 REVERSE ENGINEER NOT GETTING NAMES OF FOREIGN KEY INDEXES

ERwin renames FK indexes that the user has created when Reverse Engineering
from database

the foreign-key constraint clause does not create an index in Oracle.
The index you see in ERwin is there because ERwin shows one for each
relationship that is in the model.

The constraint name is brought back on the Relationship and if you view with
the relationship editor you will see the name.

If you forward engineer the model after RE (make sure the Constraint Names
check box is checked in other options) you will see that the generated SQL
matches the original and that there are no indexes generated for the foreign
keys.

Solution#: 45 ERWIN HANGS ON MODEL CLOSE

I have a large model (750) entities. Open with 4,0 beta2 converts from 3.5.2
format. Do file save as to new name - save takes 32.39 seconds. Close
model by hitting x in top right corner of (model)window (not ERwin's main
window). Model appears to close instantly as picture disappears, but ERwin
remains in wait state with CPU running at 100% (task manager). Task manager
also reports after 2 mins 30 sec cpu still at 100% and task is not
responding. Killed process with task manager. Model had just been saved so
 should have closed no problem.

Solution#: 50 RTB SELECT ONLY FILTER NOT WORKING PROPERLY

In trying to create an RTF report (using Report Builder) for an entity,
I apply the 'selected only filter to the entity', which is the top level
object in the report. From the properties tree I choose filter--selected
only, entity name and definition. I then add relationships and their
defintions(parent and child) and finally add the attribute section with
attriobute nameand attribute defintion. I expect that the report produced
will limit the relationships and attibute information only to those that
 pertain the the selected entity.

It does not work that way. I get the single entity and its definition,
but all relationships and all attibutes that are in the model.

I cannot get the relatinship and attribute information for only the selected
 entity.

Solution#: 66 %TABLENAME MACRO NOT EXPANDING IF NO SPACE BEFORE END QUOTE

The macro %TableName, if used within a single or double quotes was working
fine in 3.5.2. In 4.0, the same macro needs to have a space before the end
quotes for it to work. This will be problematic for 3.5.2 diagrams opening
in 4.0 if they are using this macro inside the quotes.

expand.  %ForEachEntity(){%If(%==(%TableProp(User Notification),Y)){macro
code} The above statement expands the macro code in ERwin version 3.5.2 for
each entity where the User Defined Property User Notification is equal to the

value Y. It does not expand in ERwin version 4.0. The same thing happens
for a table script.  %If(%==(%TableProp(User Notification),Y)){macro code}

Problem with Column Order when opening a 3.5.2 model. Found that it is

It seems that the 4.0 open translation, uses the physical view, from display

sometimes it only reverses the keys, especially with multiple primary keys.

Solution#: 101 DDL NOT CREATED TO GENERATE FK CONSTRAINTS ON FE

Attempting to add foreign key constraints to a database using forward
engineering does not generate SQL statements to create the foreign keys.

This occurs when reverse engineering a DDL script containing only table
definitions. Manually add primary keys to tables, then create relationships
and in the relationship editor rename the foreign key constraint name.
Select forward engineering/Schema generation, only check Referential
Integrity and Other Options/Constraint Names boxes. Selecting preview

Solution#: 105 CC WITH DB NOT DETECTING COL RENAME IN MODEL FROM RE

Creating an Oracle 8.x model from the Reverse Engineer process and then
changing a column name will cause COmplete COmpare not to detect that the
name was changed. It does not match up the columns, it treats as a new
column. In ERwin 3.5.2, the columns would be matched.

THis is true only for a model created from Reverse Engineering. Also,
opening the 3.5.2 model in ERwin 4.0 will not cause the columns to be
matched either.

Solution#: 199 ER1 FILES CREATED BY SP1 CAN NOT BE OPENED BY OLD VERSIONS

ERwin 4.0 Service Pack 1 has made changes to the file format of the er1
files. Because of these changes, models saved using Service Pack 1
will not open in older versions of ERwin 4.0.

It is therefore required that all users upgrade to Service Pack 1 in
order to be able to share models saved using the Service Pack.

Attempting to open an er1 file created with Service Pack 1 in older
versions of ERwin 4.0 will result in a hang condition with blank menu
items on the ERwin window.

Solution#: 200 MODEL LEVEL CC NOT COMPARING ALL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Complete compare of 2 models with a model level, physical compare is not
comparing all database physical properties of the model. An example of this
is filegroup for SQL Server 2000.

This occurs by design for Model Level Compares, which is intended to compare
only the physical properties of the model (physical side) and not the
actual database physical properties.

This level of comparision can be made using the database level compare
between two models. This will compare the physical database properties
described in the physical model.

Solution#: 201 FK COLUMNS NOT DELETED FROM CHILD ON RELATIONSHIP DELETE

Deleting a non-identifying relationship in a model converted from ERwin
3.5.2 will leave some foreign key columns in the child table. The columns
can not be deleted by the column editor or through model explorer.

This problem was a result of problem with conversion of ERwin 3.5.2 models
into ERwin 4.0 GA build 1298 and Patch 1 build 1338. The result was that
the parent attribute for the Foreign Key was incorrect in that all foreign
key attributes for a relationship all have the same parent attribute in the
parent table.

ERwin 4.0 Service Pack 1 has corrected this problem and converting of
ERwin 3.5.2 models using this build will not have this problem. This
build will also detect this condition in existing models and attempt to
correct the problem. In some instances it may not be possible for ERwin
to correctly determine the parent attribute for a foreign key attribute,
and a report will be generated to list these attributes that could not be
corrected.
